Mechanical Engineering: Introduction, Career and Scope

Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest branches of Engineering. It is also known as ‘mother’ branch of Engineering. It is most fundamental field of Engineering. It involves designing, development and production. Mechanical Engineers get job opportunities in both private and public sectors. They also have equal opportunities outside India. All the courses in mechanical engineering based on pure mathematics and logic of physics. Almost all inventions are contributions of one or more applications of Mechanical Engineering. Mechanical Engineers need to deal with different concepts such as mechanics, robotics, kinematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and so many. These concepts are used in designing manufacturing units, vessels, aircraft, aerospace parts and different types of motor vehicles. There is huge contribution of Mechanical Engineers in the development of engines, power plants, heating and cooling equipment. There are so many examples in front of us which are possible only because of mechanics.

The responsibilities of Mechanical Engineers never end. They are also responsible for the maintenance and testing of installed systems. Mechanical Engineers are focussing on the new areas of research like Energy and Health.
